The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Pig)
Jesus speaks to all of the people including the sinners and the tax collectors, welcoming all of them with love and open arms. Jesus speaks to them, showing his care and love for all of the people. Everyone is important and valuable to Jesus. The Pharisees do not agree with Jesus showing love and compassion towards sinners. The Pharisees tell Jesus the sinners should not be welcomed with open arms and love. Jesus tells the Pharisees this: All humans need to be shown love, even the sinners. Imagine that you are living on a farm and you have a whole entire herd of pigs. One of the pigs escapes from the herd and goes missing, you can’t find it. Would you just ignore it and let the pig go missing from the herd? NO you would absolutely not let a member of the herd go missing. You leave the herd of pigs behind and go looking for the missing pig. Once you find the pig you lift it embracing with joy for finding it. Once you arrive back you ask everyone, friends and family, to celebrate in rejoice and joy with you! Even animals who feel alone need to be shown love just like with humans. The same for this goes for in heaven. In heaven more people will rejoice over one sinner rather than a whole group of virtuous people. We are all important to God and he will do all he can to show us our importance on Earth.
